Welcome to Curious Works. Combining academic training in History and Archaeology with practical experience in a variety of textile-related craft skills, Dagmar and Catherine bring these to bear on creating  textiles based on those from the early mediaeval period in Scandinavia and Britain.

Among our products are socks, gloves and hats made in the ancient technique of Naalbinding, using handspun yarns either in undyed or naturally dyed wool, often from authentic rare-breed sheep.

We specialise in tablet bands woven in undyed and naturally dyed yarns in wool, silk and linen and gold and silver threads. Some of these are accurate copies of archaeological finds and others are original pieces based on period-correct motifs and techniques.

Other items available from time to time are copies of clothing from the Viking period and items made in Sprang or on the warp-weighted loom.
